Nobody wants their doggie to have dentures

A fun campaign has been launched by Pedigree chum to raise awareness of dental hygiene for dogs. The funny commercial shows pictures of toothless pooches who have been fitted with ‘doggie dentures’. Althought the advert is very light hearted, the problem of poor dental hygiene in our pets is a serious one.

It is estimated that as many as four out of five dogs who are aged over threesuffer from some kind of gum or tooth problem. The first indication is usual bad breath, and a hound with halitosis is not something you want. Vets recommend that you clean your dogs teeth, but in all honesty there aren’t many dogs who will just sit there and let you clean their gnashers.

Prevention is always better than cure, and a good routine from puppyhood can prevent problems in later life. Many dog owners make the mistake of thinking that dried food is better for their pets teeth, when there is really no difference between the two as far as their teeth are concerned. Introducing a good quality product such as ‘Dentastix’ into your dogs daily routine will keep tartar at bay, cut down the risk of gum disease and also leave the breath sweet smelling.
