Scissors and Clippers

There are many different types of scissors and clippers that can be used for dog grooming.  Much like other grooming tools, the type that you decide to use is dependent on the type of breed that you anticipate grooming.

Additionally, there are special variations of scissors and clippers for each different grooming task.  For example, curved scissors are the safest ways to trim around a pet’s foot, particularly if they are prone to fidgeting.

Following the same line of thought, ear and face scissors are shaped to provide maximum control and versatility while trimming around a pet’s face, which is an extremely sensitive part of their body.

When grooming a pet’s coat thinning scissors are another specialty grooming tool that are good for de-shedding or making a pet look more presentable if they have multiple layers of fur.  These are generally used on larger dogs that are typically outdoor breeds.  Dogs that have especially thick coats of fur will generally benefit from double sided thinning scissors which create maximum tension on a coat of fur.

Clippers are generally used to trim dog nails and come in all sizes with a safety latch that is recommended to prevent potential bleeding from clipping too deeply if the pet jumps.
